Cultural Programme – Royal Monastery of Oia

Summer 2019

We are pleased to announce our cultural programme for this summer, consisting of two series:

“Conversas no Mosteiro”

This series offers the opportunity to interview and engage in conversation with three prominent figures from the fields of culture and communication: Fran Zabaleta, Miguel Sobrino, and Javier Costas Goberna. We will be sharing further details about their work on our social media channels (Facebook and Instagram) over the coming weeks.

“Solpor no Mosteiro”

In a more relaxed format, this series features carefully curated live musical performances designed to accompany the site’s magnificent sunset, offering a contrast to the famous sunsets of its Greek namesake and contributing to the tourism promotion of Oia.

The event is held in collaboration with Quinta Couselo winery, historically linked to the monastery’s monks, which will offer a complimentary wine to attendees.

The main objective of these events is to highlight the value of the Monastery and contribute to the dissemination of its history and heritage.

This initiative began on 20 April with the commemoration of the most significant pirate attack suffered by the Monastery, and continued on 17 May with the celebration of Galician Literature Day in the cloister of the Monastery, in tribute to Antón Fraguas. These events will complement guided tours of the Monastery interior.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Monastery.
