Since 2005 the monastery has been accessible to the public on different occasions, such as during the celebration of the 75th Anniversary of its declaration as BIC (Bien de Interés Cultural) in 2006 and, later, thanks to the collaboration of ACAMO (Asociación de Amigos del Monasterio de Oia) whose volunteers showed the monastery to anyone who requested it.

2019 will see the start of an active and organised cultural revitalisation based on guided tours and various events to promote the monastery: talks, workshops, concerts, etc.

To channel the group’s abundant social action, the Bretal Foundation was created, which since 2021 has been responsible, among other things, for managing the monastery’s cultural activities.

SUMMER 2026 PROGRAMME

The Royal Monastery of Oia is already working on its summer programme for 2026, with new activities and experiences that we will be announcing very soon. We will be sharing all the latest news for the coming summer season shortly.

In the meantime, the monastery continues to offer guided tours for groups by prior booking, a unique opportunity to discover this historic site in a stunning setting.
