MEMORIES OF THE SPANISH CIVIL WAR\u201d Prisoners camp during the Spanish Civil War<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"lightweight\">In November 2019 the exhibition of the famous graphites of the republican prisoners who habited the Monastery of Oia was inaugurated. From 1937 and until 1939 the Monastery was a concentration camp of the insurgent side.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignwide\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/monasterio.servidor.gal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Capa422-1024x379.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6362\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"text-2-columns lightweight my-5\">These inscriptions, made in pencil on the walls of the upper floor, had been hidden for more than 80 years and exposed to extremely high humidity and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linguee.es\/ingles-espanol\/traduccion\/inclemency.html\">inclemency<\/a> conditions that endangered their survival. A long process of conservation began in 2005, when the actual property went through the replacement of roofs, investigation studies, documentation and finally, a delicate restoration process in 2019. That made possible to show and share today &#8220;The Guernicas of Oia&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignwide\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/monasterio.servidor.gal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Capa423-1024x378.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6365\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns has-2-columns my-5 is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-2 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"lightweight\">We can say that this is one of the most important work done in Galicia for the recovery of historical memory.<br><strong>More than 100 fragments were restored<\/strong>, and all of them will rotate annually in the permanent exhibition set up into one of the monumental rooms of the Cistercian building.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/monasterio.servidor.gal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Capa-382-copia.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6368\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns has-2-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-3 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"text-uppercase wp-block-heading\">Permanent Exhibition<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The exhibition is permanent and is included within the guided visit to the Mosteiro.
